D&F: Second fic out of three! Hope you all enjoy it!

Freddy wanted to do something special for DJ. The giant animatronic had always worked hard in setting up and arranging their dates, with the help of the S.T.A.F.F. Bots. Though, such hard work tended to leave the robotic spider more tired than usual. It was something that the glamrock began noticing in their recent dates. Unlike the other animatronics, the music man’s size makes it impossible to use any of the charging stations littered around the pizzaplex. Which is why sleep mode is so important for him, it’s the only way for his battery core to properly recharge.

So, the lead singer offered to handle their next date. DJ can relax, while Freddy takes care of the arrangements. When the animatronic spider agreed to it, the glamrock bear made sure to find Map Bot the very next day. He informed the worker animatronic that he’ll be handling the upcoming movie night instead of the disc jockey and require some help getting it together. To say she happily accepted to help was an understatement. It became clear to the robotic bear that setting up a scenery is pretty difficult. Not only did it need to look good, but it has to be done with the limited resources that the bots can get away with…“borrowing” for the time being.

In a way, it made the glamrock appreciate the hard work that the giant animatronic put in their previous dates even more. Luckily, Map already had a setting in mind. The basement will be decorated with the wallpaper that had been ordered by one of the employees as a mistake in the latest shipment. Along with using the lights and a few heart decorations to accompany the plastered scene of a quiet night at the docks with the glowing display of a carnival in the distance. Apparently, she had always wanted to suggest a more romantic scenery to DJ plenty of times. It just never happened, due to it needing a particular romantic movie to complete it.

And it just so happens that the movie is available right now.

How the robotic worker found out, the lead singer can only assume she was eavesdropping on the conversations of the human staff. Nevertheless, Freddy offered to retrieve it while the S.T.A.F.F. Bots went to work. After all, he didn’t like the idea of just standing by and doing nothing. Movies played within the megaplex are all kid friendly, since their target audience are children. That didn’t stop the employees from sneaking certain movies inside to watch in their free time. 

Not that the glamrock leader had any problem with it. As long as those films stay out of the reach of children, then he’s perfectly fine with it. He enters Customer Service, the most hated workstation in the building…at least that’s what he heard. Neither bot nor human enjoy working here, it was seen as more of a punishment than a work area. Why, the bear animatronic can only assume it was due to always the number of customers lining up to complain and the calls the station receives. He has dealt with angry parents and troublesome guests, but the thought of having to deal with that throughout the whole day…On second that, the animatronic bear can kind of see why this area is heavily disliked.  

He starts searching the cubbies, Map Bot said that the movies were hidden in one that looks dirty and unused. Only problem is that there are a good number of them that fit that description.

Guess the orange glamrock will have to use process of elimination to find the right cubby.

Twenty cubbies later, and Freddy is no closer to finding the right one. He tried the locker combination that Map Bot gave him on every one of the cubbies that match the requirements, yet each one proved to be the wrong locker. It also made the lead singer realize how messy some of the workers are, or just don’t use their assigned cubbies at all. He jiggles the lock after inputting the code.

Wrong again.

“Freddy!”

The sudden call of his name causes the bear animatronic to slam against the lockers as he whips around. Chica stands in front of him, with an eager smile on her beak.

Oh no.

“There you are! I was wondering where you went!” She said happily. No…no Chica can’t find out what he’s doing! Romantic relationships are forbidden in the pizzaplex, due to the complications that can occur from them. It’s in the policy itself! “Ch-Ch-Ch-Chica,” The glamrock leader forces himself to smile back, “you were…looking for me?” Calm down, just relax or she WILL notice something is wrong.

“Well, not at first! I was heading back to my green room after being cleaned up, but I noticed that the curtains in your room was closed.”

The robotic bear mentally kicks himself. He went through the trouble of fabricating an excuse to Monty and Roxy after practice that he forgot to message it to the animatronic hen! She had to be absent to have the food clogging up her insides removed.

“So, I messaged you to see if you were okay and I didn’t get a reply! Which was strange, cause you always make sure to reply!”

He quickly checks his messages through his interface. As the guitarist stated, there are five unread texts from her. The bear animatronic winces, he was so focused on finding the cubby that he ignored them. “That’s when I got curious!” Chica continues, “And I looked around until I found you!” This is bad, very bad, and the orange glamrock has no one to blame but himself. She inches closer to him, then tilts her head.

“So, whatcha doing?”

“I-!” Freddy’s eyes frantically dart around, “I, uh…” An excuse, think of any excuse to satisfy the white glamrock’s curiosity! Sadly, he’s desperation is picked up by the robotic hen.

“Looking for something? We can go get Roxy to help-”

“No!” blurts out the robotic bear. Her surprised expression made him aware of his outburst. “I mean, thank you for the offer but I can find it for myself.” He said as calmly as he could muster. Unfortunately, that only fed into Chica’s ever growing suspicion. She narrowed her eyes, “Are you checking the lockers?” Freddy fiercely shakes his head.

“No! That is a violation against the privacy policy, section-”

“Yes, you are!” interrupts the robotic hen. “I am not!” The glamrock bear objected. She points at his ears, “You are! Your ears wiggle when you lie!” His hands cover his ears on instinct. He wanted to say otherwise, but the look on the white glamrock’s face says she won’t believe it. The glamrock leader doesn’t want to reveal his relationship with DJ…Thinking it over, he sighs. “I am…looking for a movie to watch.” He admitted. Hopefully spilling a little bit of the truth doesn’t encourage his friend to dig deeper.

Chica’s eyes light up as she gasps. She looks around for any prying eyes, before continuing. “You mean the movie stash!” She whispered. Freddy nods. The guitarist beams, “Oh, then I can toootally help you with that!” She casually walks over to a dark corner. There, the hen animatronic stops in front of a cubby. Messy and unused, just like in the description. Even the lock on it shows signs of rust. “How did you know where they were?” asks the orange glamrock. Chica begins working on the lock, “Some of the employees would ask me to sneak in here and bring one of the movies to them sometimes in exchange for food!”

That explains it. Although, the last part had the glamrock leader wondering if her recent visit to Parts and Service was the result of that. “Here we go!” She said as she removed the rusty lock. Opening the cubby reveals a whole stack of movies: Action movies, comedy movies, so many movies of different genres. “Thank you, Chica.” Freddy smiles, “Though, can you…keep this a secret between the two of us?”

“Sure!”

The robotic bear spots the specific movie and pulls it out. The white glamrock audible gasps, “YOU’RE GOING TO WATCH MUSIC ON THE DOCKS?” Freddy pauses. “Um…” He stares down at the casing, “Yes?”

“Oh my cupcakes, that is SUCH a good romance movie!”

Like a flip of a switch, the robotic hen went straight into gushing. “The music is fantastic, and the love between She-” She abruptly stops, “Almost spoiled the movie for you!” The lead singer prepares himself. There are a lot of things that Chica enjoys, and romance is one of them. He had caught her trying to stealthily watch the romantic dramas that were on tv within the break rooms. She would even talk excessively about certain romance shows with Roxy. “Just know, that it will leave you going “aawwww” the whole time!” giggles the guitarist.

Her body twirls as her mind drifts away. “Like, the scene where they sing on the docks-you’re going to love that one-”

Wait…the docks?

“It is so dreamy! The way the two danced and sang about how the power of music brought them together!”

A…musical?

“A popular musician and a local DJ!” Freddy’s eyes grew wide. The glamrock hen sighs, “One pressured to be the perfect singer of the band that is loved by everyone!” His grip on the case tightens. “While the other is lovable, sweet, and wants to spread the beauty of music to the world!” She finished, oblivious to the horrified face of her friend behind her. This…this sounds too much like…him and DJ. Oh stars-THAT’S why Map Bot insisted on the movie’s importance! The bear animatronic’s hands start to shake.

“Two different worlds, brought together by the very thing that defines them!”

His face is burning red as a slew of emotions hit him fast and hard. Too many implications, this movie might end up exposing the glamrock without him needing to say it! Even if Chica doesn’t pick up on it, there’s still the film’s plot! It…it’s just too personal! This movie night is supposed to be enjoyable AND relaxing! From the sound of it, it won’t BE relaxing at all! Freddy can easily imagine the embarrassment that will come from watching those scenes, having to deal with feeling confronted by the film itself! He gazes down at the casing’s rating:

“A-actually,” The robotic bear swiftly put the movie back, “I picked the wrong one!” He didn’t bother to look as he pulled another one out, “This is what I was looking for!” The guitarist stops and stares at him. “Ah…are you sure?” She asked. “Yep! I have to go!” He dashes out before the animatronic hen could comment any further. She blinks, before giving off a shrug. “I didn’t know Freddy was into horror movies.” Chica mumbled as she closed the miniature locker.

I think queer stories would be better if people stopped assuming that queer representation hinges on if two characters are romantically involved at all. Like the moment you accept characters as being queer without needing romance to prove said queerness then i think we'd find ourselves with a lot more unique, nuanced, and interesting queer stories. but by limiting queerness to only romance you are stifling queer stories.

DPxDC Sky Pirates

Some of you may have noticed that I love to re-imagine concepts and adapt them into different settings. So, today, I present you with yet another dpxdc fantasy AU, and this time, it's Pirates.

Only just 'pirates' seemed not exciting enough, so I have Sky Pirates.

Amity Port, a place on the outskirts of Gotham - a floating continent under the rule of Waynes. A town on the edge of the world, with only the Vast Skies beyond its piers. Flying ships moored in the docks, sails of all the colors you can imagine, taverns, inns, and shops run by all the people you know: Old Kinght Fright, Jinnee Desiree, and Lady Lunch, to name some.

Royal Guard Valerie Gray, who left Amity nearly a decade ago, is now back, and she brought guests with her. Two Princes of Gotham, straight from Bristol: Tim and Jason. Only they are not here for a simple visit.

A Sky Curse over both of them, with feathers piercing their skin from inside, causes them to seek the help of a skies witch since none of the mages, witches, or warlocks all throughout Gotham could help them. But sailing the Vast Skies with no clear destination is a task for no battleship.

They need something else.

A crew of pirates who never back down from adventure when offered a fair price. A ship that had sailed far beyond any trade would go. A captain that their Royal Guard can trust, even if begrudgingly.

And, maybe, a new friend that also has feathers under his sleeves.

What I did was I took the concept of 'Danny has Wings' and the idea of space pirates from 'Treasure Planet', mixed it with some 'Pirates of the Caribbean' aesthetic, threw in some magic, added a generous amount of fantastic skyscape worlds and a dash of adventures that end in love, and winged it.

Finished veilguard and have many thoughts but none of my friends are done yet. I will probably do a second playthrough at some point just to do emmrich’s romance, but man…. Very torn on the game.

god what really gets me about dead boy detectives and what i think i love so much about the show and the relationships in it is that like. the romantic and sexual relationships aren't portrayed as being more unique or important than the platonic relationships. they're all just RELATIONSHIPS.

charles and crystal's attraction to each other and eventual hookup isn't this big end-all be-all relationship that shatter charles and edwin's friendship and draws charles' attention away from edwin; it's just a THING that happens. they're just two people that care about each other and happen to also be attracted to each other, and a hook-up happens, then they decide that neither of them are in the right place for it and it's nothing awful. crystal kisses charles, but it isn't some big spectacle of her declaring her love for him; it's just her saying goodbye and that she cares about him, like her hugs with niko and jenny and her handshake with edwin.

edwin realizes he loves charles romantically and tells him, and charles says he doesn't really love edwin romantically BACK, but it's okay, because they still love each other so much in so many other ways that this one tiny difference could never change them—and it doesn't!! they're still just as close, still care for each other just as much, still SHOW that care for each other just as much. their relationship didn't completely end because edwin loved charles in a way charles couldn't reciprocate, but at the same time it isn't "solved" by edwin getting over it, because there's nothing TO solve. it's just another type of love, added to everything that already exists between them. and they have LITERALLY FOREVER to figure out what it means.

the relationships between edwin & niko, crystal & niko, and crystal & edwin aren't given any less weight for being solely platonic, just as charles & crystal's relationship and edwin's feelings for charles aren't given (that much) MORE weight for being romantic. crystal and charles' conflict in the closet is about EDWIN, about how they're BOTH his friend and BOTH want to get him back; it has very little to do with the feelings between THEM, romantic or otherwise. similarly, the weight of charles' and edwin's relationship isn't diminished in the LEAST by charles not reciprocating the romantic side of his feelings (or SAYING he doesn't reciprocate, at least—we can all argue about the legitimacy of that in the notes).

i'm sure there are more examples than this, as well as probably some examples that CONTRADICT this, but like... by and large, it feels like dead boy detectives is a show where all the relationships are given equal weight regardless of platonic, sexual, romantic, or familial status, and as someone on both the asexual and aromantic spectrums who has struggled time and time again with shows casting out the importance of all other relationships in favor of prioritizing romance, that is INCREDIBLY refreshing to see.

gerard wrote the intro to this graphic novel in 2006. just got a paperback copy and wanted to share my scans!

In 1998, I took a comedy writing class at SVA in New York City. It was my senior year as a cartooning major and I had started to tie up all the loose ends of what credits I needed. Thal year i tried everything from surrealist literature to acting, I even gol to play the devil for my final exam... a part that made me realize I loved performing but that I had a problem being serious. Any part that I excelled at was way over the top or insanc.. so I decided I was funny. I figured I would try my hand at comedy writing. I wasn't funny.

At least to everyone else in the class, save one person... That day the assignment was to take a classic work of literature and make a joke of it. I decided to take Mark Twain's "The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn" and write a short story exactly as Mark Twain would but add one single moment where Tom, while on a raft floating down the Mississippi River, describes the summer breeze getting him excited in a certain way. No one laughed at this... except a guy wearing an Avengers T-Shirt. Not the comic book Avengers, but the classic 60's spy show Avengers, something I took notice of that day. Over lunch break I leaned over and broke the ice with a particularly inappropriate subject to see if this guy was legit. He was.

This began a love affair between, in my opinion, the only two people in the class that were actually funny. The next few weeks saw us pushing the envelope of what would make each other laugh. There was nothing sacred, nothing we wouldn't try to tie a punch-line on. I had never laughed so hard in my life and we became fast friends, writing for an audience of one.

Jon and I have been friends now for 9 years. We have seen each other at various stages of our lives, through numerous relationships and turmoil, and have sat up until 6am talking about zombies and Asia Argento every single time I have come off the road. He is like a brother.

All of these stories are true, and all of them have happened to all of us ...Jon and Nick are just more honest about it. We have all fallen in love, we have all had people fall out of love with us, but the stories in Heartbreak paint these moments with such authenticity it makes you remember all of the glorious self-deprecation. The blood and guts and the long drive home alone... the years spent aimlessly searching for someone.

Heartbreak is a snapshot of those years. It isn't pretty and it isn't glamorous... but it will make you laugh- at these guys and at yourself. At the things we do to be loved, at the depths we will sink to get someone to say those three words back to us.

And that, my friends, is funny.

To say that Kakashi and Gai’s relationship (talking solely platonic rn) was mostly about him helping Kakashi cope with the loss of Obito is disingenuous to Kakashi and all of his relationships.

Any person is going to be traumatized after seeing someone — much less their teammate — be crushed to death under a rock. Kakashi is shown to be someone susceptible to depression due to 1. His environment 2. His initial beliefs and 3. His genetic line. Of course his life is going to be centered around one of the most traumatic experiences of his life, romanticizing it is so hurtful to his character because it destroyed him - and if Kishimoto actually cared about expanding other character relationships instead of making a “generational duo that falls apart” + wasn’t a misogynistic writer, Rin’s death would be the bigger influence on his life than Obito’s.

Yes, Gai had to help him numerous times in his grief but it wasn’t solely or even mainly about Obito. Rin was an absolute vital point in Kakashi’s downfall into chaos. The self harm he inflicted upon himself, the self hatred, the self shame. He became a whole different person after he was forced to kill her. I would say Kakashi’s father Sakumo is by far the biggest influence on him. He wouldn’t have needed any speech of “your father was a hero” by Obito if it wasn’t for Sakumo. His personality of today is thanks to his father’s own death.

Gai and Kakashi’s friendship is almost entirely about them when they’re in scenes together. Look at the chunin exams, look at any scene in the land of steam arc, look at their race, etc. naturally there will be grief the two bring to the relationship and it’s on them to work it out separately, together and with other people which did happen.

You’re actively ignoring every other character that has shaped and formed who Kakashi is by saying Obito is the biggest and only reason he is who he is. Gai is one of the strongest reasons why Kakashi is as motivated and strong as he is. Kakashi would’ve absolutely died at some point in (general) anbu if Gai didn’t pull him out and he was slipping so far when he was in it because of Rin and Minato.

Kakashi’s heart does not “belong” to Obito because he’s in love with Obito and can’t get over him, his heart belongs to the people he loves because that’s who Kakashi is at his core - a lover. He’s a person who cares so deeply, even for people he doesn’t necessarily like or get along with.

Kakashi is a person who is shaped by everybody in his life, that’s why he is one of the best written Naruto characters. He feels like a real person because real people are influenced by everyone in their life, in every way. It’s unfortunate to see those who call themselves Kakashi fans only to mischaracterize, limit and erase the bonds he was written to have to prop up one single bond for your ship.

Do you care for this character? His themes, parallels, relationships and writing? or is he just a placeholder / self insert for shipping content?

about the lesbian sex it's literally because the devs didn't bother to remove the aigis romance route for femc. they were too lazy to be homophobic. elizabeth is also romanceable btw.

honestly the funniest thing about all this is that i assumed that all romance was genderlocked and therefore decided to romance akihiko and i kept having to reload saves and google shit because he’s got like 6 different relatively innocuous dialog choices that will lock you out of romance forever. meanwhile i was coasting on vibes alone with aigis and she still ended her social link begging me to fuck her

the only one ive read personally is Spring in Siberia by artem mozgovoy! it came out last year and the author himself is a gay russian man who escaped russia several years ago. i wrote my thoughts about it here and strongly recommend it. it definitely fucked me up big time but im so glad it exists, and was able to exist in this world.

i can also mention The Half Life of Valery K because i found it fun (and fucked up) too, but the author isnt russian and i had some issues with the ending, and the way some things came across. but. i still really liked it overall if you want a nuclear soviet gay romance

Because Repulsion positivity needs a disclaimer because we are always seen as being negative. it's always "Sex and romance repulsion is valid AS LONG AS you're not Sex negative ^^" never just "Sex and romance repulsion is valid." end of sentence.

I call it "Twin Souls Au" and it's mostly an exercise.

Chinese mythology has this persons called Wu (巫) which were shamans. By the late Zhou dynasty, Wu referred mostly to female shamans, while Xi refers to male ones. But for this Au I take Wu to mean a gender-neutral Shaman. As it says in the Shang oracular inscriptions:

whether the Wu is a man or a woman is not known;

it could be either the name for a function or the name of a people (or an individual) coming from a definite territory or nation;

the Wu seems to have been in charge of some divinations, (in one instance, divination is linked to a sacrifice of appeasement);

the Wu is seen as offering a sacrifice of appeasement but the inscription and the fact that this kind of sacrifice was offered by other persons (the king included) suggests that the Wu was not the person of choice to conduct all the sacrifices of appeasement;

there is only one inscription where a direct link between the king and the Wu appears. Nevertheless, the nature of the link is not known, because the status of the Wu does not appear clearly;

he follows (being brought, presumably, to Shang territory or court) the orders of other people; he is perhaps offered to the Shang as a tribute.

It's more complicated than that but Wu are basically the jack of all trades of chinese magicians.

What I focused on are two specific Wu:

The sacrifice

They are people, usually women and disabled people, who were burned at the stake to bring about rain. They themselves are an offering to the gods. CofCofShenJiuCofCof. They are also mediums for the spirit world.

Fangxiangshi

He is referred to as "The one that sees in all four directions" and wears a mask of bearskin with four golden eyes, and carried a lance and shield.

His primary duties were orchestrating the seasonal ritual to chase out disease-causing demons from buildings, and leading a funeral procession to exorcize corpse-eating wangliang spirits away from a burial chamber. Which he did by violently getting into buildings, houses included, and energetically thrusting his spear into the air.

He is a seer, and one that can conjure visions only he can see. Like a certain nerd who read the "book of fates for PIDW"

Wu were often a pair of siblings that are referred to as a single entity. Like two souls in a single body.

To the actual story:

The day of the transmigration, just as SY's soul is getting settled into SJ's body, a pair of heavenly officials (unimportant who) comes to get them for some important thing they have to do in heaven (Because more often than not, one is born a Wu), as Wu are also bureaucrats.

Man is Yue Qingyuan confused. He was there taking care of his ailed shidi and suddenly someone comes and takes him away before he can say anything. He naturally calls for a meeting and all peak lord are on the case to get him back (some more reluctantly than others)

The Ku Xing Peak Lord or whoever is in charge of rituals and divination gets them permission to go get SQQ (As they already did the thing they had to do), but only YQY and LQG are allowed. So they go.

In the heavenly realm (Not heaven outright) they see SQQ siting calmly in a gazebo on the garden, reading. More relaxed than anyone has even seen him.

SQQ sees them and, without letting them speak, says: "I'm not dealing with this"

And he separates from the body.

The body (SQQ) is let in a sleep like state while a tiny, tiny, Shen Jiu comes out of it. He looks perhaps 10, wearing ceremonial robes that only reach his knees. Shen Jiu takes his book and screams for "A-Yuan" to come take his turn.

Then, another 10 y.o. comes out of the house the garden belongs to and immediately protest upon seeing the adult cultivators. He is identical to Shen Jiu, dressed the same, but wears short hair (angled bob) and has a mask winkwink hanging from his neck.

This A-Yuan and Shen Jiu proceed to banter for a while, ignoring both YQY and LQG.

What happened was: Time functions differently in the heavenly realm; ergo, Both Shens have spend a lot of years together and already consider the other their sibling. And their dynamic is to fight and banter... so normal siblings.

Long story short; The Shens are send back to the mortal realm to work and solve mysteries because the heavenly officials were tired of them, and fight over who uses the body.

No one want to use it. They have to be responsible when they are SQQ and it's bothersome. Also CQM keeps trying to make them come back and be a peak lord but solving mysteries is more fun.

the thing thats grinds me the most about alloyd is that,, we've seen lloyd plan out living the rest of his life at someone's side. we've seen him actively wish to spend the rest of eternity with someone. we've seen him think what sounds suspiciously like marriage vows about someone.

i am not joking or exaggerating here are the quotes:

Lloyd felt reassured by Javier's presence as he gazed at him. He could not have gotten this far without the knight. Therefore, he did not want to lose Javier and hoped they would keep bickering with each other for eternity. -ch 361

He thought he'd always be with Javier for the rest of his life. Just like now, he thought they'd spend all their time together moving forward. And like they always did, they'd be by each other's side during hard times. Happy moments. Relaxed days. They'd share all these moments as they exchanged insults and corny jokes, growing old as a lazy lord of a fiefdom and his knight. Lloyd always thought so. The thought just came naturally, without much effort from him, much like breathing. Lloyd believed that Javier would always remain by his side as that was how it had been until now. -ch 222

and at no point in any of those occasions has he ever sounded remotely afraid, threatened or uncomfortable with the idea.

so how come he is all of that when it comes to the idea of marrying what is supposed to be his canon love interest? like???

This is bad. Really bad. Terrible feelings struck his gut. Lloyd's lifelong wish was to find a rather ordinary woman to fall in love with, before getting married and having kids with her to lead an unremarkable family life. This was the extent of the luxury he had always dreamed of, not the frantic romance with the mightiest queen in the entire continent. I can see and feel it. I can sense it. This isn't good. Lloyd could see himself in the queen's pockets, like a scaredy cat in the presence of a ferocious lioness. -ch 390

Lloyd became speechless, even though he desperately wanted to call it an absolute abuse of power, tyranny, and dictatorship. But I'm kind of excited and glad... except what kind of marriage proposal is this threatening...?! But Lloyd couldn't bring it out in words, as his queen had already taken him by his hand. It was rough, yet warm. He could feel every heartbeat that was clearly pounding faster than usual. Ugh. There goes my dream of ordinary living. Lloyd quickly wiped off the tear that was about to fall from his eyes at the thought of the frightening romance. -ch 393

does this sound like someone in love???? like?? genuinely?? is this really what the main character should feel about his love interest???

i'm not even saying that the way lloyd feels about javier is inherently romantic, him feeling perfectly comfortable and hopeful about spending the rest of their life together is perfectly explicable by their close friendship.

but why make your protagonist sound so terrified of the idea of marrying what is supposed to be the love of his life?? when you never did that when writing about his other close relationship??
